HISTORY
Treloyhan Manor was built by local shipping magnate, Edward Hain as his private family home in 1892 and was designed by Silvanus Trevail, who was perhaps one of the most famous Cornish architects of the 19th Century. Hain descended from a long line of shipowners from Cornwall and produced eighty-seven ships, all with the prefix ‘Tre’, including Trelyon.
During the Second World War, the Manor was used to house pupils evacuated from Sussex, and became a guest house shortly after. Methodist Guild Holidays operated the manor as a Christian retreat until 2021. In 2024 it reopened following a £25 million renovation, incorporating five new lodges.
Treloyhan Manor truly is a symbol of Cornish history, which is echoed by its unrivalled elevated location, boasting magnificent views across St. Ives Bay and surrounded by an exquisite estate with sub-tropical gardens.
