Santa famously arrives at St Ives Harbour each December via the iconic St Ives RNLI lifeboat, followed by a jolly procession to Royal Square for the lights switch-on with traditional carol singers - heralding the start of the Magical Weekend.
A Magical Weekend, 5-6 December
Enjoy choosing unique gifts and treats from artisan markets, and experience the delight of street entertainment along Fore St, before a family-friendly “Wicked-inspired” evening show at the theatre. Santa’s Grotto is also available for children aged 4-14 years.

Refreshing Boxing Day Dip
An annual St Ives’ tradition is the popular Boxing Day Dip held at Porthminster Beach for those keen on a festive cold-water swim.
On 31 December 2025, the town will host large crowds for a breathtaking midnight fireworks display over the harbour. Fancy dress is strongly encouraged and the streets will be busy.
